About

“Yado Nishimura” is a whole-house rental set within a 250-year-old former village headman’s residence in the mountains of Oku-Shizu, Shizuoka City, Japan.
This traditional home, preserved since the Edo period, is a rare and precious example of historic architecture—one of the very few in Japan where guests can actually stay.

Stay

Here, time slows down, inviting you to embrace nature’s gentle rhythm and authentic Japanese hospitality.
Sit on the engawa veranda and take in the mountain views as you enjoy a quiet moment, or gather around the irori hearth for a warm meal. In winter, slip on a padded hanten coat; in summer, feel the cool breeze drifting in from the veranda. Here, you can experience the everyday life of old Japan as something wonderfully extraordinary.

Oku-shizu

The inn is located deep within Shizuoka City, surrounded by mountain ranges.
In spring, birdsong fills the air; in summer, the greenery is vibrant; in autumn, the large chestnut trees bear their fruit; and in the crisp winter air, the quiet feels almost soothing.
It is an ideal setting for those who wish to escape the noise of the city and spend their time at a slower, more peaceful pace.
