Nature – オクシズという場所、自然

Approximately 80% of Shizuoka City is mountainous.
The Oku-Shizuoka (Oku-Shizu) area is divided north–south by the Warashina, Abe, and Okitsu rivers and the mountains surrounding them. Locals refer to these divisions as “different valleys.”
Although villages appear horizontally aligned on a map, in the past people frequently crossed the mountains on foot to visit neighboring communities.
Today, crossing these mountains requires first driving back down into town.
In the deepest areas, such as Ikawa and Umegashima, traditional local vegetables are still preserved.
The village of Hirano, where Yado-Nishimura is located, sits right beside the Abe River.
It is a mountain-surrounded rural area.
From Shizuoka Station, you can reach it in about 40 minutes by simply following the road—no turns required.
